Entertaining with ease

Well it’s been a busy few weeks here so I haven’t had time to post much of late but wanted to follow up my last dip recipe post with some more easy dips and other finger food recipes for easy entertaining. Nigella Lawson, celebrity cook and domestic goddess whom we all worship in one way or another (whether we admit it or not!) is also the queen of easy entertaining. At the core of her cooking philosophy is that the kitchen should be a place for pleasure and not stress, so by ‘cutting corners’ and making unfussy food even when entertaining, both the host and guests can enjoy a relaxing meal  with tons of delicious treats but without risking a dinner party anxiety attack.

Finger food made fabulous

This video shows Nigella preparing for a night with her girlfriends at home and making a series of ‘finger foods’ that will be served all at once on the table. This includes suggestions for easy nibbles, recipes for red kidney bean dip and badenjan dip, two different types of exotic salads and spicy meatballs. Although they are all variations on finger foods, the use of spices and herbs give the recipes an exciting quality and the variety of dishes a sense of abundance. An Arabian nights style tipple gets things started (although I think a Negroni would be just as good!) and a bit of attention to tableware means these finger foods are transformed into a whole entertaining experience far greater than the sum of its parts.

Click on parts 1, 2 and 3 to watch the entire episode and for all the finger food recipes.
